Call for applications: the Fondation Etrillard launches the craft competition Âmes d'Œuvres
After the success of the 3rd edition of its Ecological and Natural Landscape Heritage Prize 2023, the Foundation invests a new field of expression, this time in the one of crafts, with the creation of the ‘‘Âmes d'Œuvres’’ competition.
This new competition promotes the creativity, innovation, and know-how of craftspeople, while encouraging interdisciplinarity. It is aimed at professionals in the field of art and design, who must demonstrate both their artistic daring and the excellence of their technique.
To participate in this new award, candidates must reinterpret one of the key pieces in the Fondation Etrillard’s collection, by imagining an original work, according to pre-established criteria. For this first edition 2023-24, the chosen piece is the exceptional Bergère du débotté: a unique seat in the history of 18th century furniture, attributed to the carpenter Georges Jacob. This armchair is remarkable for its size, its sculpture, and its material (mahogany).
Once chosen by a jury of specialists from the art world, the winner will produce his or her creation, which will be exhibited to the public and become part of the Fondation Etrillard’s collection. The winner will receive an endowment of CHF 40,000.
Applications can be submitted from 10 May to 31 December 2023 on the Foundation’s website.
