Unveiling of the Très Riches Heures du duc de Berry project at Chantilly
On 25 October, a press trip was held to unveil one of the major projects for the Château de Chantilly between 2023 and 2025: the restoration of the finest manuscript from the Middle Ages, Les Très Riches Heures du duc de Berry, a jewel in the collections of the Musée Condé.
The Fondation Etrillard, as the project's sole sponsor, was present alongside journalists from Le Figaro, La Croix, France Culture and Le Point, among others, and art and heritage influencers such as @ohpet.art.
Usually jealously guarded in a 'hidden' library at the Château de Chantilly, this exceptional book of hours was shown to the guests present; our Executive Officer had the immense privilege of consulting it, accompanied by Marie-Pierre Dion, general curator in charge of the library and archives at the Château de Chantilly, and Mathieu Deldicque, director of the Musée Condé.
A press conference was also held to explain the major milestones in the project, from the restoration and analysis of the pages using cutting-edge technology, to the exhibition in 2025 of the book's leaves removed during repair.
