The partnership with En Choeur is the first project through which the Fondation Etrillard is working to make music more accessible to a wider audience. This project has two components: a series of introductory singing lessons led by musicians and a choir leader which culminates in a final concert. Classical musicians hold weekly rehearsals for inmates of the Fleury-Mérogis prison for three months. These sessions give inmates the opportunity to discover different musical instruments. At the end of the course, students sing at a concert accompanied by the guest musicians. Held in the prison, the audience of the concert is as open as possible, including staff, service personnel, guests and other inmates.
This symbolic event invites music and song into prison life for a short interlude.
The Fondation Etrillard has been enthusiastically supporting this programme since 2018 despite constraints owing to the pandemic.
