Support for the Baroque Weeks at the Festival Musikdorf Ernen
In the heart of Upper Valais, the village of Ernen becomes the setting for an exceptional musical event every summer. From July 17 to 31, 2026, the Baroque Weeks of the Festival Musikdorf Ernen invite the public on a journey through the centuries, in a sensitive dialogue between heritage, interpretation, and creation.
In the intimate setting of the church in Ernen—a 16th-century building with richly carved Baroque altars—the music takes on a unique dimension. Works from the 17th and 18th centuries regain their original resonance here, carried by the warmth of period instruments and the enveloping acoustics of this historic venue.
Supported by the Fondation Etrillard, these Baroque Weeks contribute to the rediscovery of sometimes-forgotten repertoires, revealing the full richness and diversity of a living musical heritage.
At the heart of this adventure, the Aernen Barock ensemble brings together musicians from Europe’s leading ensembles specializing in early music practices. Together, they explore rare, and sometimes previously unperformed, works with artistic rigor coupled with a genuine commitment to passing on this tradition.
