Nature in the City Award 2026: Lil'Ô, this year’s winner
The Fondation Etrillard is delighted to announce the winner of the 2026 Nature in the City Award: the Lil’Ô project, led by the Halage Association in L’Île-Saint-Denis, in the Paris region.
The Lil’Ô project offers a concrete and inspiring response to the challenge of restoring nature’s rightful place at the heart of the most constrained urban areas. On a former polluted industrial wasteland covering 3.6 hectares, long closed off to local residents, a new ecosystem is gradually emerging: regenerated soil, restored biodiversity, and spaces for socialising, learning and sharing that are open to all.
Since 2018, the project has demonstrated that urban renaturation goes far beyond the creation of green spaces: it strengthens social ties, improves the quality of life and treats the soil as a common good to be preserved and passed on.
This is precisely what the Nature in the City Award seeks to recognise: projects that tangibly expand the role of nature in cities, in the areas that need it most, and which can serve as replicable models for the city of tomorrow.
The Fondaton Etrillard is proud to recognise Lil’Ô and to support it in this new phase of its development, as it continues to expand these natural spaces and strengthen their impact on the local area.
