Unveiling of the first winner of the Digital Arts Prize
On 22 October, 2025, the Fondation Etrillard and the Academy of Fine Arts announced Jonas Lund as the winner of the first edition of the Digital Arts Prize. The two institutions rewarded the Swedish artist for his work MVP (Most Valuable Painting).
Under the dome of the Palais de l'Institut de France, in front of a large audience and in the presence of the jury, Valérie Belin, photographer, member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts and jury member for the Prize, and Gilles Etrillard, President of the Foundation, hosted the award ceremony. After recalling the objectives of the Prize and presenting the works of the three finalists, Justine Emard, Jonas Lund and Thomas Marcusson, they awarded the €20,000 prize to 41-year-old Swedish artist Jonas Lund.
The jury president highlighted the excellence of the winner's career in the field of digital arts and the relevance of the winning work to the Prize. MVP (Most Valuable Painting) is indeed a critical work that highlights the meaning of value in the art world. The work, composed of 512 evolving digital paintings, establishes a dialogue between abstract painting and digital art, rethinking the canvas as an evolving system. The jury praised the intelligence of Jonas Lund's work, both from a technological and artistic point of view.
