Nadia Boulanger

The Fontainebleau Schools of Music and Fine Arts have been organising their summer school at the Château de Fontainebleau since 1921. Nearly 10,000 students have participated in the summer schools organised by the conservatory, which is inextricably linked with the famous Nadia Boulanger, who trained elite composers such as Aaron Copland, Elliot Carter, Michel Legrand, Astor Piazzolla and Quincy Jones.

Intergenerational transmission

The Fondation Etrillard participated in the prestigious events organised to celebrate the centenary in 2021. The Foundation continues its support in 2022, with the summer school focusing on intergenerational transmission with students sharing the stage with experienced artists; interaction with the public through walks, musical tours, and concerts with mediation for families; and contemporary creation from Messiaen to living composers.

This project is also an opportunity for the Fondation Etrillard to encourage the public to rediscover the Château de Fontainebleau, with music and the creation of a historical web series set in the castle.
