Prix Mélodie for the Nadia and Lili Boulanger Competition

The Fondation Etrillard encourages the discovery of talents and the influence of original musical composition from the Middle Ages to the present day. Supporting the Mélodie award of the Nadia and Lili Boulanger international competition, dedicated to discovering the most talented young musicians, was a natural choice. Open to candidates aged under 32, the competition encourages duets of singers and pianists from all over the world in their careers. Candidates are asked to present a repertoire with a balance between Lieder and French melody and include at least one work by Nadia Boulanger or Lili Boulanger.

Flore Van Meerssche & Gyeongtaek Lee

Prix awarded to Flore Van Meerssche, soprano and Gyeongtaek Lee, pianist

In 2021, the Prix de Mélodie – Prix de la Fondation Etrillard was awarded to soprano Flore Van Meerssche and pianist Gyeongtaek Lee. The duo grasped the spirit of melodies by Berlioz and Chausson, while also mastering their interpretation of Falla and a Germanic repertoire that was somewhat off-tangent. They demonstrated their capacity to represent works that are often unknown to the general public, which resonates with the Foundation’s mission of reaching new audiences for musical repertoires.
