The Foundation welcomed to the National Gallery for its bicentenary
The President of the Fondation Etrillard was welcomed to London on 7 May for a patrons' dinner and the unveiling of the National Gallery's new collections display.
This reopening marks the culmination of three years of work and celebrations to mark the museum's bicentenary.
Named C C Land: The Wonder of Art, the permanent collection space has been completely redesigned to accommodate over 1,000 works, including prestigious loans and recent acquisitions. From 10 May, visitors were able to rediscover the museum's masterpieces, such as Leonardo da Vinci's The Virgin of the Rocks, as well as works that had long been kept in storage.
The Fondation Etrillard is proud to support Room 31, ‘Charles I and Henrietta Maria – A Royal Collection 1625-1649.’ This new exhibition, dedicated to the Baroque period, allows visitors to appreciate in all their splendour the works acquired by the royal couple and those commissioned during their lifetime.
This is the case with the painting The Finding of Moses, commissioned by King Charles I from the Italian painter Orazio Gentileschi to commemorate the birth of his son, and restored for the occasion with our support.
